The ADS Astronomy database contains abstracts in the fields of Astronomy, Astrophysics, Planetary Sciences, and Solar Physics. This database was originally created from a dataset of abstracts spanning the years 1975 to 1995, provided by NASA's Science and Technical Index (STI). In the years since then, the ADS has extended coverage of the data back to volume 1 of many journals, and forward to the present from abstracts and references provided by journal publishers, provided by SIMBAD, scanned in from table of contents, or typed in by contractors. This dataset contains extensive links to articles online at journal publishers, articles scanned in by the ADS, and datasets online at outside organizations, as well as many cross links within ADS used to create citation information. |
